They should not be as long as the elders are behaving properly. Some elderly people get very pushy with their shiny little scooters that they drive around in stores and other public places by practically running over people. If you have noticed, a lot of these people are about 100-200 lbs overweight and the scooter itself is contributing to their obesity because now they do not even walk. "I am too fat to walk" seems to me what they are saying so they drive their little red cart causing havoc where ever they go. Cutting in line at the store etc.

Because they lived on handouts from the Government and the Government give them too much power to disrespect their elders.

I think it is because the "elders" are seen in the eyes of the young as "out of touch" .

which one are you referring to Dis-respect or respect.

In any event I blame the people who raised them since they were responsible for imbibing this simple norm into their lives! It is probably a case of following what was taught to us as we were growing up! (though people won't readily agree or admit it)

I blame the parents for people like that, you are supposed to be taught to respect people.

Because they didn't get their mouths washed out with soap enough or not at all, they think they know it all but they don't and in life they will find out.
