the final view of the ordinary public seems to be that the President has some form of dictatorial powers, to not point out a mystical means to regulate the economy. not something could be extra desirable from the reality. The President heads the administrative branch, that's created from hordes of bureaucrats - he apoints the heads of those bureaucracies, and that they make some staffing and coverage modifications, yet, the place the rubber meets the line, you have profession bureaucrats who persist with thier very own agendas, regardless of who thier chief government may well be. The President is Commander in chief, yet he can't declare warfare, and his power to take militia strikes and not applying a assertion of warfare is derived from Congress (nonetheless Congress has given away a good number of that power, and delivered a number of it decrease back, over the final 60 years). So, valuable, while 9/11 happend, Bush became into technically in charge of the CIA and FBI, and one or the different (or the two, i can't keep in mind on the 2nd) had accountability for counterterrorism opperations - yet, those agencies have been nonetheless staffed by way of profession bureaucrats and Clinton apointees, the skill of adjusting over and conforming to Bush's policies became into basically purely underway (one reason that the 1st 365 days of a clean administration is a stable time to assault, BTW - so assume /something/ this 365 days, and it purely isn't 'Obama's fault,' precisely). not that it made that a good number of a distinction. The long-status policies and innovations on airline hijackings purely weren't designed to steer away from that form of assault - they have been meant to chop back the possibility to passengers while a plane became into hijacked to make a political assertion, to make demands of a few type, not basically for use as a primitive guided missle.

Quite possibly, but it wasn't because of the people they killed.

On the surface 9/11 had to do with killing Americans to get their point across. But delving deeper, 9/11 truly was a TERROR-ist attack. They killed 3,000 Americans, but they scared 300 Million of us.

We have the Patriot Act, extremely high airport security, domestic wiretapping, Americans questioning the intent of other Americans, just because of how they look. At one point, you couldn't take toothpaste, soap, or Gatorade onboard an airplane, for fear they might be used as explosives.

The attacks took 3,000 lives, cost billions of dollars in security, and in some cases, the personal loss of freedom of some people.

I'm not saying I dislike the airport security, I'd rather take my shoes of then the alternative, but 9/11 affected thee U.S., and all of us, and not just emotionally. [No] thanks to that day, the terrorists won. It's 5 years later, and we're still reeling.

God, I hope nothing like that ever happens again.

I'd say the multiple attacks they're doing in Iraq is a bigger terrorist attack than 9/11.

I would say the best recruiting tool for terrorists organizations has been the invasion of Iraq.

The biggest and best yes, but they had won a long series of victories in the Clinton Years without a single defeat.

the 1993 world trade center bombing was somewhat successful.

the embassies in Africa were very successful.

the USS Cole was successful.

the "Black Hawk Down" incident in Somalia was successful.

there are a couple others but my memory is failing me.

We did absolutely NOTHING after each of these so not only were they successful they carried no penalty what so ever.

yes if you wanted to become something that reached its goal. this country blames the terrorists but i blame the american goverment totally for what happened. they knew sooner or later it would happen every elected goverment official failed the citizens of the usa . each one should have been shot for treason but it will never happen because they protect each other

it was a good tool at getting the crazies out of the wood work. If anything it just made extremeists more visible. Which makes it easier for us to kill them.
