In the scale of things Russia's Communists were only in power for 73 years and the history prior ti that time is beautiful, ornate and intriguing, please do not forget Russia was once the Strongest Empire.

You raise an interesting point. On the cosmic scale of things 73 years is nothing - the blink of an eye. On the human scale of things 73 years is longer than most people live - and that is the scale by which the longevity of Soviet Russia is judged. It lasted a whole lifetime, and to ordinary mortals that seems to be a very long time indeed. That is why people still associate Russia with communism. But as the years pass and old people die and young people take their place that will pass. Soon there will be adults who cannot remember when Russia was red because they were not around - and that will be the beginning of the solution to your particular problem. And the earth will continue its progress through the cosmos - which will hardly notice the change.

The Communists may have only been in power for 73 years but the damage they did will last for a very very long time. I t is hard for us in the west to think about Russia without thinking of Communism. Sorry, no offense. I am Greek and I consider Russians my Brothers but I will never forget the evils of Communism.

How was Russia better before it was communist?

It was ruled by powerful csars which took advantage of its people. This is what led to the uprising and the Bolshevik revolution. I mean seriously, open a book once in a while and dont make me hate you for being stupid!

John Wilkes Boothe only shot Lincoln once in his whole life - but that's what he's remembered for... It's the way it goes.
