Well, during the 50s, my dad was labeled a communist because he quoted the Constitution and State laws when trying to help Blacks, Latinos and Jews (especially to help those Vets that had served in WW 2 and Korea) apply for Civil Service jobs such as bus operators, sanitation department, fire department, police department, secretarial jobs, etc. On a few occasions I got home early from elementary school and found my dad with his hands up against the wall, standing in his underwear with his pants down at his ankles, tall Caucasians ransacking the apartment, without a court order but they had guns and my dad was alone.... they pulled everything out of drawers and closets and piled the contents on the floor, made a huge mess throughout the apartment... they also went to his job, identified themselves as FBI agents after asking for him by name and then would say, "We can't comment on why we're asking since this is an official investigation..." and walk away; the next day my dad would be looking for another job. This went on for a number of years.

It was called McCarthyism then, but today it goes by other names, Homeland Security, Patriot Act... They're making a mockery out of our Constitution and the ideals under which our nation was founded.

For many, many decades America stood for justice and fairness and now we're allowing elected officials to get away with illegal wire taps and illegal searches and to illegally intercept our mail (illegal because they do not seek nor have a court order, to prevent them from abusing their powers to spy on political enemies, and in breach of our Constitutional rights, freedoms and liberties); we're not taking action against those elected officials that sanctioned illegal clandestine prisons that hold prisoners in secret, without formal charges leveled agaisnt them or without informing them of the crimes they may have committed, without affording them the right to legal cousel, or give them an opportunity to prove their innocence on charges that might be trumped up, without their families or friends knowing their whereabouts, and we do nothing against those that have sanctioned torturing prisoners to admit what their accusers and torturers want them to admit to... the same things we condemned other nations and now we're CONDONING this from our elected own officials? Who will protect US from our own elected officials?

Sadly enough, we're becoming jaded and losing sight of what it means to be Americans... and citizens of the United States of America. We're choosing what is easier over what is RIGHT...

I guess George Orwell was RIGHT all along in his famous novel, "1984."

You stole the Constitution?!?!?!?

I can't say I have been targeted by the Domestic Surveillance Program. Although, I don't talk to anyone overseas. Heck, I don't even call out of my own area code.
