Why does my wireless connection disconnect when my laptop is next to the router?

This has only started happening recently (after working fine for a year). The connection is fine when the laptop is in a different room to the router although sometimes the connection speed drops. I've also lost the wireless connection with the printer and have to use a usb cable.

You have to expect wireless connections to drop once in a while. Wireless connections are foolproof. A lot of things could cause a disconnect. Anything from a wireless phone nearby to faulty drivers can mess up a wireless connection.

Electro Magnetic Radiation interrupting the signal. Possible that the shielding in the router is a little thin and allowing the signal to be interrupted.

if you know how to set it up id reset it and install the printer and laptop again .
my router to reset has a pinsize hole that needs you to stick a pin in it to reset (dont know if yours has his) but mine give me probs and resetting again and setting it up again fixed it all.
