I have an interview for a sales assistant job in a high street fashion shop tomorrow and i dont know what to wear. I have a cute white shirt which is quite smart and i want to wear my black pumps but do i go with black trousers or a skirt?? or can i get away with dark jeans as it is a trendy shop?

I think skirt and closed toed shoes or boots make a great first impression
in the future always drop by perspective employers a few days before interview to see what staff is wearing

I think the black trousers. you will look smart, even if it is a trendy store you should look smart for an interview, I have interviewed lots of people and if they look as if they haven't made an effort why should I invest my time and training on them? So look smart maybe you could wear some trendy accessories but definitely not the jeans. good luck & be relaxed and smile and make good eye contact xx

in my opinion, if it's a trendy shop, go trendy.
look at what the sales assitants wear, and copy, toning it down a bit, and making sure you have your own individual style.
the white skirt sounds good, as do the pumps, wear some funky tights with that, and good luck!!

i've applied to work in h&m a couple of times and i reckon the reason i never got selected is i wasn't trendy enough hehe

I think a black skirt, or trousers if it is cold! Even though it is a fashion shop it is important to have a professional image for a job interview anywhere.

yes your dark jeans would look very nice and trendy alternatively you could wear a pencil/tulip skirt as these seem to have been in over the winter and would look formal for an interview

good luck!!

It depends on the store in question. Something that considers itself "fashion" eg. New Look, TopShop, Miss Selfridges, Primark, Zara, Mango etc. will probably be happy with jeans but somewhere that caters to a smarter client isn't going to be too impressed.

Think about who their customers are and then dress like you identify with them, like a customer would trust your judgement. Make sure whatever you wear you look groomed and tidy - neat hair, nails, make up. It all gets noticed I promise you.

Good luck!
