I do like how many white people feel the need to go out of their way to say a black person is articulate. As if this defied expectation.
You never really see people going out of their way to say that about white people.

Main reason, he's a democrat
If he was a republican he would be drug out into the streets and figuratively beaten to death for his comments.
I don't think he was being racist, however the perception is there and if he was a Republican it would be enough.

If the very statement was made about a white person would it be offensive? Why does it offend blacks? I can't see it. I don't like Biden but lets be reasonable. What is all the fuss about? There are articulate people and inarticulate people and Mr Obama is articulate. Period. Am I being prejudicial by saying that? Hardly think so, and if you do, I am sorry for you.

I don't think he's broken any laws, has he? Secondly, his comments were not racist. He said Obama was handsome, intelligent and articulate. Is that an insult? Obama is obviously more intelligent and personable than Jackson, less divisive than Sharpton. Back in the old days, candidates used to challenge one another to duels, especially if another one insulted the other candidate's horse or wife or property. Biden has been in the Senate for 34 years, is a moderate, very experienced & shouldn't be derailed because of a minor remark. Big deal. I believe Sharpton has said some pretty bad, cutting remarks about Bush, hasn't he?

Joe Biden wasn't forced to resign from the senate because it's freedom of speech. Most politician have a way of miss speaking! President Bush wasn't kicked out of office for asking the Brazilian head of state,"Do you blacks in your country too"? There wasn't a big public uproar over his statement. Freedom of speech isn't it a wonderful thing!

Biden wasn't being racist. He may have a big mouth but he was being honest, to a point. I'm sure he was referring to Jesse Hymietown Jackson and Al Twana Brawley Sharpton when he made the clean remark, referring to the dirt those two dirtbags heaped on themselves. Too bad he forgot about Alan Keyes, who also ran for President, but maybe he was just talking about Democrats.

I understand the double standard, however, I think if you are so thin skinned you don't need to be in politics. I don't appreciate the remarks Biden made, but then I am not a fan of Biden. By the same token I am not a fan of Obama either, I think people just need to stop jumping on every comment people make on both sides. Thanks

Why hasn't he been "forced to resign" ? Because no one has ever been "forced to resign" because of something they said. Even Trent Lott was merely removed from his leadership post slightly more than 4 years ago. He obviously didn't have to resign from the Senate.

Exactly what I said. Lott had to step down from his post as party leader in the Senate, but not from his Senate seat itself. You asked why Joe Biden is not forced to resign from the Senate. I repeat, no one has ever been forced to resign from the Senate because of something they said.

i think of that develop into an excellent-natured jab at Joe, no longer an mean-lively insult of Joe's race. i think of you're lots greater racist than Obama for assuming Obama's motivations are racist.

Biden is a used car salesman but when I read that comment and heard the tape I believe when he made the "clean" comment that he was not refering to Obamas personal hygene but to his background as compared to Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. Both Sharpton and Jackson have things in their background that would not pass the sniff test when you run for president.

1) Because, it's a free country and being a racist is not illegal.
2) The comment wasn't racist.
3) It doesn't matter if some people are offended. It's not illegal to offend someone.
Hope this helps.
