There is a difference between speed reading and what you are describing. Speed reading is a skill used to access information quickly. If you are incapable of reading out loud because you can't focus your mind on the individual works, that could actually be a sign of a reading disorder. I am a speed reader, but I can read normally when I need to.

But getting to your question, I'm a big fan of Wendell Berry. I would also suggest "Even Whispers Can be Heard" by Gerald Brooker. I've included a link to a review I wrote in case you want more information about the book.

Okay, you like reading. I ready may technicla books and a few novels. I also write. The advice I can give you as a future writier is this. A s areader, you are reading words that are already on the page As a writter you have to put the words on the page and to do this, train your brain to read in revers, think of the sentance then paint itto the screen. Play with it so that it makes sence to other people. You write something, you know what it means , but would someone else reading it for the first time. Often we write somethingf, but it is not always interprited as what we mean. Take a corse in basic writting concepts and techniques than go for it. Write a page copied it and take it to a publisher, say a few pagers from each chatre and let the publishers read it. One might like yournwriting style enough to take your works on an publish them. never give up and get into a routine of writing, like three pages a day or so. Writing is the reverse to reading. The words are in your head you have to paint then to the paper. Hope this has helped you

Speed-reading is awesome, especially to one who loves to read or scrutinizes for ideas in others fiction. I find Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child's books quite enjoyable though I fail to write a good summary. It's great to meet another author. May I read your book?
