If you knew that one of your family or friends was invloved in somethinhg illicit or terrorist based, would you tell the police?
Even if by doing so you would alientate yourself from that person, your family and possibly even your community?

I think it important to stress that I am only asking this question for a moral point of view and thankfully I am not in that position at the moment.
I have been in a postion in the past where a very good friend was selling drugs whilst out with me! I didn't know until after he got done by the police. I sttod in court and testified against him as morally, I have an issue with it.
As I said, this is purely a theoretical question - thanks for your replies.

Illicit - depends on the offence. If murder- yes.
Terrorist - every time

You have to ask yourself if you could live with yourself knowing that you could have prevented something destructive to others created by your loved ones.
I think that I personally would tell but I haven't been in your situation so it must be very hard.
You clearly care about the people involved and it sounds like you are in a no win situation and I think you should follow your heart. Good luck

Sometimes we have to save ourselves don't we? If I thought or had evidence that a family member was doing someting that was linked with terroism I would run to the cops. I wouldn't care if they ever talked to me again. If that family member is really doing something like that and you don't say anything to anyone that can help-they could sot the lives of many others. Would you want that on your shoulders? Knowing that you could have said something and saved the lives of children in a daycare that was targeted and bombed?

If this person was endangering the rest of the family then yes I would. If their activities were only putting them in danger I would stay out of it.
You must protect those who are innocent when you can. Other than that you could be putting yourself in danger.
In the end it is a decision that only you can make.
Good luck.

YES i would tell indeed
but i'd think a lot, i'd cry a lot
i'd HESITATE a lot
but if i was in this sitiuation, i would care more that the person u mean would take his punishment ,may be this would change him, rather than loss of innocent souls
t's a hard sitiuation !

The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few... Regardless of my feelings or relationship with the person I could not knowingly allow someone to kill the Innocent.

Depends on which family member and what the crime was.
If we're talking kid sister robbing a bank, then I get 50%dibs like when we nicked sweets from the corner shop.
If we're talking my fat half brother using his nerdy computer stuff to aid terrorist attacks on the innocent then I'd do his kneecaps and then shop him.

Yes, without hesitation. No one, family or friend has the right to inflict harm upon innocent persons.

If I found out my brother was planning to cause death and injury to dozens of people who have nothing to do with his plight, then yes, and I'd give him a slap at the same time.

Yes, I would definitely tell if it was connected to terrorism....there's no way I could keep quiet about that. I wouldn't care if I was alienated from that person...I don't think I'd want to be associated with them if they were doing stuff like like.
