I personally wouldn't charge for sewing on the badges,as the Scouts is volunteering movement and it's about teaching children to be good citizens as well as playing and causing havoc and chaos at the same time,I know because I was in the scouts for about eight years,I'd feel kinda guilty to expect payment for sewing on a couple of badges, maybe you could ask the parents to make donations to your sons scout pack for doing the favour for them,or group up with other mums or dads who don't mind sewing,or volunteer to go in and maybe teach the boys to sew.
But if you where to sew my sons badges I would offer a gesture of thanks of maybe £10,or a bottle of wine,or offer to take your son to beavers one night

Show your son how to do it then he can get a sewing badge as well.
I have cloth badges for 25 and 40 mile walks and never considered getting anyone to sew them on never mind paying them for it. I did not even ask the wife to sew them in.

I think the Beavers should hold a "sewing evening" & learn how to sew their own badges on, then you wouldn't need to use your valuable time doing something other mums should be doing for their kids.

Sorry nowt, would get out the needle and thread myself but good on you for offering this service for those who are adverse to doing this. Why not ask one of your close friends how much they would charge, or alternatively you could say charge a more unreaslistic rate and donate the monies raised after taking out a small amount for yourself and donate the surplus to Beavers funds that I'm sure would be much appreciated by the group and the Mum's would be willing to support as in the end their sons would also benefit by you relieving them of the chore.
Good Luck and hope this helps.

I would put my answer to you like this...
How long will it take for you sew on 1 badge?
How many could you do in an hour?
How much money do you want to make per hour?
Divide the your desired hourly rate by the number of badges and hey presto you have your answer.

I can tell you the tailors around here charge about 2 bucks for military patches. I'm not sure what they charge for club badges but I'd assume it would be close. Personally I get out the machine and do them myself but I've done them for people, mostly out of kindness when they needed them rushed. Maybe I need to start charging. Hmmmm....

If you taught your son to sew his own on he could probably get points towards his sewing/homehelp or lifeskills badge

well if ur son is a member, i 'm pretty sure they would expect u to volunteer ur services. I suppose u could try minimum wage because i don't think they'd pay much more.
