Sometimes I get people writing christian jargon on here to me, I find it horrible, almost as if its patronising, they think I dont know anyhting because i'm not religous, or I need help.

They're just trying to be nice and are definitely not trying to offend you.

It is in fact a part of our common culture, Do you say "bye" to people? I bet you do. It comes originally from Good bye - God be with ye (as you depart on your journey which could be full of perils).

Look, the Christians ( I think ) are trying to be nice and are hoping for the best for you. At least they are not calling down damnation and judgement which is of course another option for them.

What I hate is when people are insincere, no matter what terms, Christian or not they use. When they say something nice but they really are hoping "I wish you would fall under a bus" - When someone writes "yours sincerely" and they are lying through their teeth and you know it. Or when they finish "yours faithfully" and you know they will stab you in the back given the first opportunity.

Now if Christians write to me and are insincere (and believe me it happens I'm a clergyman and there are some very poisonous people in churches) then I am annoyed - because it is blasphemous. However if they write it and mean it - well good for them and thanks.

Yours hoping you won't take and offence

I think it depends on the context. If you posted a question about sex and the persons response is "Sinner! I will pray for your soul!" I would be offended. Otherwise, probably not. I have a severely disabled child and often have people who practice different religions that I do tell me that they are praying for my son. I don't find this in any way horrible or patronizing. Nor would I find someone using 'God bless' at the end of their message instead of 'sincerely' or others.

I can see where your coming from, I felt like that for a little while to but it is their religion and they see it as a nice, friendly thing.

I guess one way to put it would be imagine the words "God bless you" as "thank you", in principle the mean the same, and thats well manners.

They're not trying to condesend to you or patronise you, so just chill and its all good ^_^

i in my view do no longer locate it offensive in any respect yet nevertheless i'm Christian. I say it for the reason that's a delightful term which skill I wish each and all the terrific for them. I pray to God for the wellbeing of my acquaintances and that's only asserting that I wish them nicely. i do no longer see why it's going to be offensive via fact no person does it to press faith on the different frequently.

Well is you find it patronising and horrible you think you are better that God. No person is better that Him and no one can be in control of his/her's own life. When people say "God bless you" they mean good. I'm not saying you don't know anything, but you need help from God. Everyone does, everyday.

God Bless

There are far more offensive things to say than 'God bless you'

At least the intention is for the best.

Have a nice day
