Umm, my little four month old girl, does at times put her hand to her ear( the right one) but doesn't seem to be in any pain- well as far as I can tell, she seems normal, she does get a redness in there (just on the outside of the hole) is this related to teething or do they get red when it flaps over sometimes.

If she had an ear infection she would be screaming in the night time - really loud and she would probably have a fever.
If she is teething she could have extra fluid in her ear or it may bother her some - do a home hearing test (stand behind her and crinkle paper or ring a bell) to see if her hearing is not affected

I could almost guarantee that she is going through early teething ...get her checked out ....an ear infection can have a fever too ...maybe even rosie red cheeks ...so hard to tell between the two ! Only a doc can really tell the ear infection as it's mostly from the inside !! Also ear infections are very painful so i'm sure u would really know!!
Better be safe than sorry ....get ur little bundle of joy checked asap !! Good luck !

could be a lot of things. specially since the ear, nose and throat r all connected. if it were an earinfection it would bother her though, she would probably be cranky and pull around on the ear a lot as well as running a fever. if u r concerned about the redness in the ear and if it doesn't go away , take her to the pediatrician just to be on the safe side, that way u know for sure and can save her the pain of it getting severe before it is obvious. all they have to do is peek into the ear.

my son suffers from non stop ear infections. and its always the right one.look out for pulling onthe ear, sloppy poop, slight cough. best to take her to the doctor.the babys ear tube is only half an inch long compared to an adults 1.5 inches so its more prone to infection.also,if you bottle feed dont lay the baby down with the bottle as some milk drains into the ear and causes a little red spot causing infection.

You take her to a doctor and have him/her check the ears out...
I have been lucky enough to not go through this with my daughter, but if I suspected an ear infection, I would go to the doctor to have my suspicions confirmed.

I think if it really concerns you, you should take her to the doctor just to make sure. Is she running a low fever at all? Is she tugging at her ear? Is she crying at all. It very well could be signs of teething as well, but if she starts acting out of the norm I suggest taking her in to be safe.
