Apparently, in America, this means someone of low intelligence and with a poor upbringing. Jermaine didn't mean this to be a racist remark (how would he, he already knows what it feels like), it was meant what it means. Low intelligence with a poor upbringing - understandable when you look at the mother!
Regarding the muslim community, you only ever hear them when they want something for themselves. I agree they should have had a massive march telling their Muslim brothers and sisters that terrorism does not bring results, and killing innocent people is wrong, but hey, when you're doing ok from the state, would you raise your head?

Do we hear any apologies from coloured people for the insults made against whites, on a daily basis? No, of course not.
As the questioner says, why haven' the Muslim and Islamic communities, got together and, come out in strength, to condemn the terrorism that occurred in previous bombings?
They are quick to kick up a fuss about the Jade Goody incident.

I only heard one sentence on CBB that could possible be taken as a racist remark. It was..."I think she should go home"
All the rest of it was just bitchy. Just humans being humans.
I am black, and I heard nothing else that would have offended me.
In-fact If I had been in there, I would have been annoyed with Shilpa as well. She was trying to rule everyone.
What about all the things she (Shilpa)said?
What about the way she laughed at other people's accents?
What about when she couldn't pronounce 'Dirk'?
What about her bragging how she could speak English better than them (even with her accent)?
The whole OXO thing developed because; although she didn't shout...she confronted them about it with an attitude.
Her intention was to show them that she had ordered the OXOs and how DARE them use all of it.
Admitted, Jade did drag it on over the top...she should have just said...Well, we used them, TOUGH!
But Jade is Jade and she only did what she thought we and BB expected her to do. She was trying to spice up the show.
And didn't we enjoy it? WE DID...

Tom you are right.
Jermaine did make racist remarks. He made the comment about 'white trash' and he also looked horrified when asked was his wife black......'of course' he answered.
Also nothing has been mentioned about Shilpa mimicking the way Jade spoke and pronounced certain words - but it was racist when the girls did this to Shilpa.......come on people!
I think the SOME Muslims have intergrated in the UK but the majority choose to be segregated. Why come to the UK if you are going to live totally by your native culture and shun the British......Slag our way of life, our religion, our beliefs, our social security system, our education, our NHS, our EVERYTHING!!!!!
I think that more should be done by the Muslim communities to combat terrorism, instead they close ranks.....

Eden, that is merely the round-about way of an intelligent man calling someone white trash.
When are people going to start looking at what people mean instead of simply what people said.
Racism isn't a game you play and try to catch people out with their words. But so many people dont get it.
Jade wasn't racist against Shilpa, what she was was infuriated by her and unable to communicate her feelings of her.
Not like that model in ther that said "I wish she'd f*ck off back home [to India]!"
She didn't say "to India", but we ALL know what she meant.
Jermaine didn't SAY she was white trash.
But we all KNOW what he meant.

I would say it was a racist remark for sure - totally because the world is full of authorities who say that EDUCATION IS EXPENSIVE - and now they are paying more as IGNORANCE IS BY FAR THE COSTLIER OF THE TWO. I would not like to be on the receiving end of a comment as your question and I am just being honest. But there again I would not give out a comment to the opposite of that either, perhaps I have educated myself throughout my years THANK GOODNESS

"White trash" is a comment directed a particular group of people. So it is racist. History is important to learn from. Historically, caucasians have been one of the most racist groups... but it's history. People need to move on with their lives. There are a lot more problems in the world more important than the color of someone's skin. It's immature for people to fight fire with fire. Being racist to a racist is not a mature, well thought out decision. Honestly, it only takes one apple to spoil the bunch.

To your headline question, yes. However, I have no time for the 'racist' word, I see it as a word spawned by the 'left' for their own controlling purposes. I would have interpreted the phrase you mention as, bad manners. I know what you mean though, what is sauce for the Goose is also sauce for the Gander.
