We all know the official speed limit is 70mph but many many people go faster than this and it's overlooked. If I go past a speed camera at 80, will I be caught? What about 85? 90? i.e. What is the 'unofficial' speed limit?

I believe it is the speed limit, plus 10% of it, plus 2. Bare in mind that the government are trying to bring this down to 5% plus 2, but for now it stands at 10%.

I think some may be set up for 10% over the limit due to speedometer setting differences but it is safest not do anything over the speed limit especially when going past camera - and dont forget the unmarked police cars.......

A friend who is a speed cop told me that he stops anyone doing more than 84 mph but I wouldn't like to trust a speed camera over 75mph. Usually your own speedo reads low, so you may have a bit in hand there. My wife tells me that hers reads high - for she was over the limit with a radar gun recently. No comment

Im pretty sure it still fires at 70 - its mor a case of if that camera is in operation.
