It is technically possible, but unfortunately unlikely, unless the person who found it really wants to return it to you.

Only very few operators actually check to see if phones are stolen or on a trace list. I know this because I work in the tech department of a mobile operator.

If a phone is stolen, it will likely be unlocked and shipped out to another country.

If a good person found it, he should take it to the shop of the operator whose sim you have in it.

As you could have the IMEI number you with ease have got to ring your network and ask them to block the mobile from getting used. You're going to now not be able to hint the place of the telephone; most effective the network can do that. No longer all networks will trouble to do that, however they are going to obviously block each the mobile and the sim card for you. Make sure that each the telephone and the simcard are blocked (if the cellphone has a simcard). You must block the mobile, so no person can use it, but you additionally have to block the simcard so no person can use your credit score (in case you are on pay as you go/prepay) or run up a enormous invoice in your contract, which you're going to be dependable to pay.
