Sydney to New York takes between 24 and 32 hours, depending on how long you have to wait in LA or SF for a connecting flight. The best I've ever done is 23 1/2 hours.

Do you mean Sydney, Australia? If so a trip by plane to New York will take a while. Depending on airline etc. it will take you about 16 hours to fly to LAX (LA). All flights from Australia stop here, as you have to catch an American domestic airline to New York. LA to New York is about 5 hours I think? Same as say Sydney to Perth. So perhaps only 3-4 hours. I guess, adding up travelling time, waiting, getting on another plane, you are looking at a 24 trip from Sydney to New York.

The trip to Sydney to New york involves flying to LA first about 17 hours flying time and then 6 hours flying time from LA to NY and then you have to add transit times as well.
