My grandfather came from a village near Vodina (Edhessa) from Greece to Turkiye at 1920's exchange. Actually half part of my village where i was born came from there. They says they came a village call "ostof" or "oslof" near a lake in near Vodina.

I found Vodina (Edhessa) but can't find information about village where my comes from. Any one has any idea about that village from Greece?

Thank you very much for your help.

Dear all,

Thank you for your all help. I think i am on the right way to find my roots. I feel very strange and happy.

I think my grandfather comes from Vodina's (Edessa) village Oslovo (Panagica - Panagitsa). We speel Oslovo different but looks similiar. There is a problem, there is no more old people know story in my village where i was born. I will try to contact with them for more details. Because i live in Bursa and Bursa is a bit far away where i was born.

But i know that they choiced Yeniköy (where i was born) because or looking like Oslof (Oslovo). Yeniköy is a village on high mountains. There is a "big" (like sea) lake at bottom and there are big forests at top. I think Oslovo must be like this. Because of i remember when i was child, my grandfather said to me that Yeniköy is look like Oslovo with strategic position.

@Takis, Thank you very much about info of Vodina (Edessa)

Okay my friend!! This part of todays Northern Greece!! Changed the names after the Balkan Wars1912-1913!! This part was MACEDONIAN and the names of places were different from today!! The village that you are looking for is called "Ostrovo" this is what it was called in MACEDONIAN before they changed it to Greek when Greece occupied these land!! This village is located West of "Voden" and is Northeast of "Lake Ostrovo" I am not sure what it called today in Greek!!! Here are some sources on this part of MACEDONIA!! Good luck!!!

If it is indeed Panagitsa in Edessa what you are looking for I attach a site of a hotel and a restaurant there (im sorry it is in Greek).
I aslo attach a map, in Greek too I'm afraid. Panagitsa is the name wtitten in black over the word "MOTOCROSS" just underneath the bed sign, near the centre of the map

try this site

http://www.edessacity.gr/

but the name of the village is probably changed or the name used by greeks is now used (mixed villages in 1920 could have 3-4 different names)
