Normally I would say pc, as I despise macs with a passion. However it's common knowledge that music producing and film editing is mostly done professionally on macs.

Buy a newer Mac they are really good for practical things like music producing and the best for film editing. a pc would be ok because there is some good software for editing out there and they are cheaper

MAC is the best choice for all your computer needs!
There is less maintenance involved and also, they last longer, and are crash proof! Also there are very few viruses and trojans, and ads, and spyware that can infect your computer with MAC.
MAC OS's do not run on a registry process like windows does, so when you're working online, you do not have to worry about some annoying ad downloading on your computer slowing it down for what you really need it for!
PLUS! MAC's are made for the heavy multi-tasking!
PC's Strain to work!
I am a computer tech. 6 years, and have NEVER gotten a MAC call. Just been HP computer failured to death! HP -spells C-R-A-P!
GO MAC MAN!

PC's often ran on windows operating systems or linux. Seeing as that has all changed within the past year or so it all comes down to hardware specs. Processor speeds, video cards, motherboard specs etc will determine the "better" computer now. For video gaming a windows operating system is prefered 9 out of 10 times.
Macs running windows operating system are slightly slower than pcs due to the the way the code is processed...but it is very very very little. My suggestion to you, if you are buying a new computer, compare the specs on computers and check out http://www.tomshardware.com for actual performance based comparisons all sorts of computer products.

well if it were strictly for those uses i would say a mac, there are some really nice software for film editing available for the mac but if you plan on using it for other things as well; perhaps as your main machine, i would buy a pc.

Yes, if you are into heavy flash animation, video editing and photo manupulation Apples are built for that. You can do the same with a windows PC but would you really want to get a 1989 Dodge Omni and enter it in the Indy 500?

If your not into video editing or anyhting i would suggest a regular PC for games, internet, email and schoolwork :)

When I buy again I'll go for a mac I think, I have a PC at the moment, imo macs run smoother, less complications

You should go for a pc. Because you will have a lot more choice of softwares here. Like you can have Macromedia Director which is a very good film editing software. There are very good (and free) music editing softwares as well like audacity etc.
