On the property of the state mental instituation there are some old
buildings with windows boarded up. They were said to have abestos and would cost to much to tear them down. I wonder
what secrets they hold, durning a time when mental patients
didn't have many rights. How many lived there with no one to
come and see them. How many died and are forgotten. If a tape
recorder was left there overnight, could there be a ghost or two
hanging around, to tell a story of what happened there long ago?

I wonder all the time! I do feel that events and emotions are literally held in the bricks and mortar of buildings.
I also believe that when some people see ghosts or spirits, they're actually just seeing an event of the past, something that took place there that is replayed over and over again.
I wouldn't go *near* an abandoned mental hospital - Yikes!
Can you imagine the energy that is still in there....

Don't go there. Didn't you see the episode on Supernatural when Sam and Dean went in one? The Doctor had been doing experiments on the patients. Not pretty. All the spirits of the patients wanted was the spirit of the demon doctor to be destroyed so he couldn't do it to anyone else.
