Very few stars are given from what I can see in the general questions. There are a few that wee cited as examples that gained numerus stars...but the questions were simple and lacked depth. I can see no purpose in using the system. What ar your thoughts?

I agree. I can't really think of a single question that I have seen here which is of sufficient general interest to merit a star. But it was a good idea, and could be of some use in tracking particular questions, which is awkward to do otherwise. What I would really like to see is a way of categorizing my answers.
