The 1991 - 1993 Jimmy Johnson. All he did was win. He built a 1-15 team into a three time Super Bowl champ. (OK, Switzer coached that third SB, but it was JJ's team.)

Well it depends what team I'm owning, and how long a term we're talking about. Some teams are built to do different things, and it can be half a decade of drafts and trades and free agency before a coach has a chance to shape a team to exactly the style of play he likes to run. It also depends who my GM is, ie what kind of talent we can attract and how well we can negotiate contracts, and how lucrative my market is, ie how much we can afford to spend on non-player (ie coordinator, etc) contracts, going after players, etc.

Some coaches that are great in some situations might not do so well in others - for instance, Pete Carroll did great at USC but not so hot in his NFL tenure. JoePa is another example, a coach that probably wouldnt do as well anywhere but Happy Valley, and he knows it, too.

But, all things else being equal, I think I'd go with Dick Vermeil, or if you're discounting retired coaches, Bill Belichick. Vermeil's been in the game for ages and had a lot of success in a lot of different franchises. You can have a lot of success with disciplinarian coaches like Parcells and Gibbs, too, but its the chessmasters like Belichick, Vermeil, and Walsh, coaches that know the game inside and out so well they can play an offense like a virtuoso violinist, that have the most consistent success season after season.

The more that I see of coaching -most of them are good -
the biggest thing that makes them stand out is their Qbs
just look at them Bellicheck was a bum before he got
Brady check his record. Bill Walsh ,Joe Montana . Chuck
Noll had Terry Bradshaw Bill Cowher had Ben Roethesberger
Tom Landry had Roger Stauback Jimmy Johnson had his
Troy Aikman, Vince Lombardi Bart Starr,Mike Holgren had
Bret Fayre now Tong Dungy has Peyton Manning I think
there is more than a coincidence here. None of this guys
could win without a QB that could get it done for them..

Mike Martz because you just don't need all the athletic players on your team. You need players that have a high IQ in football. Athletism is a plus, but look at what Mike Martz did with Kurt Warner a shopping bag man, to a 2 time MVP. He also gave out chances to Trent Green and Marc Bulger, who prob. wouldn't get that much attention.

Mike Martz is a beast, no one can touch his offense if he has the right personel.

Bill Belichick.

He has the ability and power to out-strategize opponents.

The AFC conference game was lost by the Pats bcuz the defense gave the points away. I think Manning knew it too. He made the Pats D feel good so that they could mkae mistakes.
