In the early 60's in elementary school, we played this game in class. We would hide our eyes by putting our heads down on the desk a put a thumb up in the air. The teacher would walk around the room and either touch one (or all but one) of us. Then we had to guess who was chosen. I just can't remember how it was played. Not positive of the name either.

Heads up 7up

How we played it in class was the teacher picked 7 people to be the people who touched peoples thumbs. We put our heads down/thumbs up and they went around and each picked one person. After they all picked one person they'd return to the front of the class, and the people who got their thumbs touched had to guess who picked them. If they guessed right they took their place and they were out.

how we did in in class was the teacher would choose 5 people to go around and be the toucher. The 5 people would touch one thumb and both thumbs would go down. Then the teacher would call: "Heads Up Thumbs Down!"..We lifted our heads and the ones who got chosen would stand up and then the people would guess one by one....then the 5 chosen ones will say if the person is right or wrong. If the person is rught they would swap places..if the person was wrong then the person that said "no" would tell the class whom they chosen..then the person who guessed would sit down and the game would go over the same way again.

Heads up 7 up was the name and I think there were 7 students at the front of the class and everyone else put their heads down and stuck one thumb up.

Each of the 7 students that were "up" would press the thumb down of one of the heads-down students.

Once the 7 students had each pressed one thumb down and returned to the front of the class, everyone could open their eyes and each had to guess who pressed their thumb.

If they guessed right, the person who pressed the thumb would sit down and the student who guessed correctly would get to play the next round.

The game is called 7up. Seven students do the thumb thing and then people who had their thumb touched have to guess. If they get it right they become part of the seven up, and the person that touched their thumb leaves.

I asked a similar question some time ago. Browse back through my questions and you'll find it. I believe we called it "Heads Up, Seven Up".

OMG! Thanks for the flashback!!! I vaguely remember 7UP! Cool! I was in elementary school in the early 80's though. Guess the game stood the test of time! I wonder if they still play it. Probably not...nothing is as cool as it used to be.
