I don't mean sleeping on the job. I mean a structured nap time, mandatory or voluntary, designed to help workers rest and work more energetically.

A number of employers have adopted this practice, including some major railroads, which routinely have crews take naps while trains are parked on sidings waiting for other trains to pass. Long-haul truck drivers are required to get rest time while traveling.

In France there has been a law proposed that would force employers to give their employees nap breaks.

How do you feel? I'll just lean back and close my eyes while I'm waiting for your answers.

I would not feel comfortable sleeping at work, no one can force anyone to sleep and I think it is a waste of time for some jobs, like mine where I am office based and am not likely to cause any accidents through lack of sleep. I see the practicality of naps in jobs such as long haul drivers, but I'm a receptionist, and all it will do is add more time to our working days, to make up for the breaks.
