No it doesn't exist.
Just a paranoid delusion - people in high places have enough means of causing misery without becoming part of a conspiracy.
If my memory serves me correctly, the phrase was originally used by Churchill when he was talking about the Iron Curtain.
I guess some conspiracy theorists liked the sound of it - now there's a mini industry telling us just what it is. Sad really, when you think about it.

Yes, everyone of our presidents since Ronald Reagan have belonged to a secret society known as "the Illuminati." These pagan idiots, who drank far too much in their respective frat houses, want to weaken America and eliminate the middle class in hopes of controlling the entire world. The only hope for our country is to elect a third party candidate to the presidency in 2012. Also, elect 3rd party conservatives to the house and senate, while we have the option. Our country essentially is run by an oligarchy as President Bush alluded to in a banal fashion! I am referring to the infamous "Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton...ha ha" remark in the post-midterm election.

The world is about to change beyond our understanding soon when the oil runs out...may not sound like a big deal but the world runs not on money or love but oil.
