Yes. Natural law is higher than human law. Just because some may not be mature enough is not justification for oppressing those who are. Because some will never mature enough, and by such justification no one should ever have sex because there is always someone of any age is not mature enough. It can never be justified to infringe on the rights and freewill of the intelligent only to protect the stupid. What this society is unable to accept is that bad things will happen. No ammount of laws can prevent that. The world is becoming one big nanny state and the US is in the lead. And americans have a dreadful fear of sex. Not that it isn't a world wide epidemic Thats why so many people get such a kick out of flirting with that fear. Society should be more tolerant and accept that sex is completely natural and not try to make victims out of people who aren't. If people are trully concerned they should make sex education a priority.

No, the age of consent really only applies when it's an older man having sex with young girls...and who thinks THAT should be legal? No one is prosecuting kids who have sex with kids. And just because you are able to mensruate doesn't mean you are old enough and have the emotional maturity to handle the responsibility of sex. Also, some girls have their period as young as 9 or 10, so do you think a 40 year old man should legally be able to have sex with her, or that she should be having sex in any case?

If your idea were implemented, my sister would have been having sex at 8...do you think an 8 year old has the understanding of what sex is and the potential risks and implications of it. Young girls are reaching puberty at earlier and earlier ages and it would not make sense to use puberty as a benchmark for maturity and understanding.

The age of consent doesn't typically make any difference anyway. If a young girl wants to have sex, she will, whether she is of legal age or not. What is needed is better sex education and for young people to understand there is nothing clever in sex and it is better to wait and ensure it is done in the right relationship and context.

NO the law is there to stop disgusting predators on these young girls.
girls will have sex whenever they want to they dont care about any law. I'm telling you the law is there to protect some of these girls from horrible older men who know better.
imagine if the age went down and 40 year old men would be sleeping with 12 year olds and it would be legal. yuk no thanks.

some girl children begin to menstruate at the age of 9. you think sex at 9 is ok? BTW, it nobody's business when a girl begins to menstruate in the first damn place. Why not put announcements in the newpaper and on the radio while we're at it?

nope - with growth hormaones being given to chickens to get
the raised faster to get to market faster to make a profit faster

our CHILDREN - eat that food and they are maturing faster

and some 8 year olds are already menstruating -

so how is your theory now???????

ps some 17 year olds think they can drive, too
in our county a 17 yr old pulled in front of a semi (only
other vehicle for miles) and they did not beat it -
killed them and their 19 yr old friend - 4 more in the hospital

I am ready for driver's licenses to go to 21!

Is the age of responsibility lowered to match?

Doesn't matter to me personally, I'm old enough it wouldn't make a difference in my personal life.

(shrugs)
