-Someone you can trust and rely
-Someone that will compromise
-Someone that you love(platonic)
-Someone that accepts what you have done in your life
-Someone that can forgive you when you mess up
-Someone you can have fun with just the two of you there

I don't know how Americans specifically define friendship, but here in Africa - it's the people you can be the most honest with. The people you call up when you're bored of your own company. The people who call you when they need help moving house.

someone that shares your interests, likes to spend time with you, you can both be yourselves. you talk on the phone, my space, have drinks, go dancing, hook your other friends up with, and so on.
