Could someone tell me what was the purpose of haveing a 64 year old man name Sherman Pore on the show who said his wife had died two day ago and Simon, Randy let him sing, you are not suppose to be over 28 years, so did they set this up. Last week a 54 year old lady dressed up like big bird was on there, do they just do this for laughts

The Bib Bird lady definitely. After all, they focus on a lot of
really deluded people who think they can sing (the guy
that screamed Gloria a week ago ...) and then let us see
them perform in all their wacky glory (panther guy anyone?)
for our entertainment and for the chance for Simon to cruelly
destroy their dreams. (Rightfully so in too many cases)
I think the Sherman guy was allowed to sing just to
show that the show has some sort of heart...after all, he
was singing in honor of his lady who died just a few days ago.
It was kinda sweet in a totally plotted way.
Sidepoint: do you think that any of those ghastly singers
watched themselves when their segment aired and really
still believed that they were robbed? Or did harsh reality finally
set in that they just can't sing. ???? What do you think?

I actually didn't mind him singing. I liked his story.
I hate them wasting time on the tweety woman Or that gay "Ian" :guy. What an AW, He auditioned for SYTYCD too, Idiot !!!

I for one would be a person that watch an American Idol "Senior", if they had one ,...because just because one is over 28 doesn't mean they can't sing.
But I totally understand where you are coming from, they also, besides the 50 yrs old Tweety bird , had a 47 year old that was a waste of space audition in Jersey.
I guess he (Sherman, the old guy) was just a nice lonely old man, that's why it did't bother me, i wasn't annoyed by him and he actually could sing.
I hope he gains something positive from his exposure
But yeah I thought they checked Id's too

This happened because American Idol is actually a neferious plot devised by Dr Evil,Emperor Palpatine,Ursula The Sea Witch and Sperg.They do this to dumb down the general populace. Oh did you know Simon wasn't actually born he is a Homungulus created by Nazi Alchemists. Paula is really Ron White in drag Randy is a robot and Ryan Seacrest is a Vampire. The last season will involved Hugh Jackman ridding us of them with silver bullets. Sorry I couldnt help it I dont watch American Idol for the very reason you were speaking about

It's for ratings. The show does have a set age limit and contestants know this prior to auditioning, as it clearly specifies in the paperwork they have to sign. In the case of the Big Bird gal, yeah I think it was done for laughs, and the more outrageous their gimmick the more airtime the show wastes on them unfortunately. As for Sherman, I think it was done more so as an act of compassion, considering his situation. As he stated before he sang, he wanted no sympathy...he just wanted the chance to fulfill his wife's wishes, and he knew he wasn't going to advance. I felt bad for him, but truthfully he sang better than most of the one's who auditioned tonight by far.

If you listened to the man talk, you would know that his partner was suffering/dying with cancer and getting signatures for Sherman to be able to sing on Idol lifted her spirits. I think it was very sweet.

I guess you really needed to listen to his story on why he wanted to do it. It was something that they both talked about. I just wished she could have seen him sing even if it was from a hospital bed.

I think they were just playing around and acting goofy. They need to get their acts together, because the whole world was looking at it.
