The absolute best advice I never took was to sign a cohabitation agreement. You can get them online from legalforms.com I think it was, or you can get them from an office or stationary store. Basically it is an agreement that states who pays for what, who takes/keeps what etc. If you are moving in with friends, and you want them to remain friends WITHOUT any drama, all of you need to agree on terms first and have it in writing so no one forgets.
Good luck, HTH

You guys will need first months rent plus a damage deposit (normally half of the rent) and you may need a co-signer if you don't have any prior rental history or if the caretaker is worried about you not paying on time. You can find some apartment that rent month to month but most are yearly leases. If you get a house, utilities can be very expensive. Keep in mind you will also need to have enough money for kitchen stuff and furniture if you're not getting it second hand.

My advice to you is...living with friends is HARD. My hubby's buddy moved in with us for 8 months and I hated it. There are always fights about who's food is what, showers, parking, who's messes....ugh I hope you all have patience. It sounds all fine and dandy to start with but it's not all it's cracked up to be. I suggest watching all those court shows on tv, (there are always legal disputes with roommates on there) and make sure you sign a lease with everyone involved, and make sure everything is split up, and it's all written down. and set some house rules in case of studying for school, boyfriends over, things like that. good luck!Oh and if you can fnd a cheao small house, that' better than a cramped apartment depending how many are there. My brother rented a house ith his 2 buddies, and i think if they went smaller they would kill eachother lol.

Dont go with house for your first place, unless you all make GREAT money. With a house, there are lots of expenses you dont realize. Apartments usually have water, sewer, and garbage included. And with a house, you are stuck with any probs. An apartment, you can just call up your landlord to fix whatever is broken.
