A link to an example would be great, since I don't think we can post pics in our answers. I'm just wanting to know what people would actually buy. I'm going to start a small business to make a little money on the side...nothing big right now. I'll make custom aprons. Custom in that they get to pick out the style, colors, pockets, ruffles, etc. I would like to put a few styles to choose from on the sight, and I have an idea of what would sell, but I want to see, if I'm on the same page as everyone else. Of course they could do a style not on the site, but already having a visual to choose from would make it a lot easier for both the customer and myself.
I realize many people simply make their own aprons, and most people don't even use aprons at all, but if you are someone who does like aprons, please tell me what you'd actually buy. Thanks!

I like the modern looking ones. Check out Jessie Steele (http://vintagejune.com/someone-s-in-the-kitchen-aprons.html) and Domistyle (http://www.domistylegifts.com/womens.htm)

I used to be a chef and my favorite apron ever, for form and function was made with a heavy weight cotton/nylon (I think) material. It was a waist apron, that is it wasn't the kind that went over your head and covered your chest, and it was long enough to go past my knees. The ties were long enough to go around my waist once and tie in the front. This style didn't have or need a pocket, but I guess for a home cook they might want a pocket, although the only kind I would find practical would be a very narrow one deep enough to hold an instant read thermometer. They are nice to have on hand when you are preparing a meal. Hope this was helpful. Good Luck. If you are a success, maybe you could send me one like I described in Blue.

There are two main styles I wear. One is what is called a prairie apron ,think full bodice ,calf length pinafore apron ( www.plainlydressed.com) the other is called an Edwardian apron basically a bib apron with shoulder straps that go over your shoulders cross behind your back and button or are sewn to the waist band. In both styles the skirt is full and nearly meets at the back. I do have a couple of what you would call hostess aprons that have ruffles on the shoulder straps and the hem which are great for serving and party hostessing.

Hi, I love to wear aprons.I wear them all the time! I can tell you which ones I like, and don't like but that's just my own taste. I don't like the ones that hang off your neck.I put lots of stuff in my pockets, things like screwdrivers, screws, batteries, scissors, knifes, gum, pistachios, sunflower seeds,so of course the pockets have to be big enough for all my junk, but not so big that things get lost in them.I wished I could send a picture for you to see the ones I made. There wasn't any patterns,(I wouldn't know how to use it) I just made it up in my head.Patty,my sister made some for us that were from antique patterns, one hundred years old.I wished you could see both.Remember Finger-painting?That's where I got the idea for the one I made.It buttons in the back,But kinda looks like a nice fancy vest, put on backwards. For the sleeves,I used a piece of cloth about twelve inches wide by whatever length, gathered the bottom than sewed it on.It's long in front, and has tailored tails in back, but the back only goes down to the waist. There are big pockets on the sides that are slanted at the tops for easy access. Also they are reinforced at the bottom for durability. It's happy yellow with small flowers.I love that apron,it's my favourite one.Good luck, Where's it going to be?Watch the movie,"Places in the Heart"and you'll see what the aprons my sister and myself made.Their wearing them in the begining of the movie!

I don't have any aprons, but have always wanted one that covers from my chest to my hips, is kind of sexy-looking, form-fitting, ruffles along the bottom. Maybe a white material with a cherry print or something really cute like that! If you make any like that, let me know and I'd buy two! Good luck!

A multi-purpose. I would prefer chest and waist coverage. An added front pouch divided down the middle and loops on the waist to hold light weight tools. This could be used in the kitchen or the shop. Washable but heavy duty would be great if possible. Something like denim.

I would buy something sassy and stylish. Maybe with a collar and a tuxedo front. Good luck with your endeavor by the way.
