depending on what you are speaking about, some things have gotten better, knowledge, technology, health discoveries, disease control, we are advancing very quickly to the age of the Jetson's....but then we are also lagging behind on poor or getting poorer, and the rich or getting richer..there should be a way of the rich showing the poor how to succeed , the racial situation is still alive and growing, from generation to generation, keeping the hate and bigotry alive....child rearing..in some ways its gotten better but for the most part it gotten worse, parents(some) or not there for their children, supervision, teaching them right from wrong, not letting young children out without adult supervision, now is a very critical time..if the parent of this generation don't start getting their kids ready for adulthood, to be able to step into the jobs of running this government and raising the children and caring for their safety, we and they are going to have the hardest job, and worst problem with crime that every was....we need to do something about the young ones now because after they are in office and running the country , it's to late...

A growing empowered population is a great gift. A growing population without appropriate development is a great bane.
