Some semi-unrelated snakes are being crossed, such as cornsnakes (genus elaphe/pantherophis) and kingsnakes (lampropeltis), or womas (type of python) and carpet pythons... But they are still related at at least the family level... Boas are a fairly "primative" form of snake compared to Elapids (though in response to the above post, I think Viperidae is actually the most recent line, just splitting hairs though and I could be wrong). Boids and Elapids are waaaaay too different genetically for it to work, at least with the biotechnology we have now. Who knows, if we ever get to the point where we can splice/manipulate genes enough, perhaps it would be possible, though at that point I would think we would have better things to to with our time ;).

It couldn't be done. You're talking about apples & oranges here.

Just from an evolutionary standpoint the boids (boas & pythons) are the oldest of snakes, then came the colubrids (kingsnakes, corn snakes, etc), and then finally the venomous snakes began to evolve, and the elapidae (cobras, coral snakes, mambas, kraits, etc) are the most recent additions to the planet.

One other thing to think about... king cobras are snake eaters. If you were to put one in with a boa "just to see what would happen" you would most likely end up with a very fat cobra alone in the tank.

you cant they are different species, ever wonder if you could breed a dog to a cat ? king cobras eat other snakes so a boa wouldnt be in there long anyway.

CAN? Possibly. Would it be viable? Almost certainly not. The nature of the two animals is about as different as a sheep and a mountain lion.
