The Exorcist by far -- scared the hell out of me, and can you imagine being a 9 year old and watch something like that in the middle of the night? I was scared to the point of not being able to sleep well for weeks! And I think the part where linda blair used the crucifix to "you know" is just beyond repulsive! I'll never ever watch that movie ever again as long as I live.

The Omen. Good pacing (better than Rosemary's Baby - I got kinda bored with it, honestly) and very effectively creepy. Yes, some gore, but not so reliant on shock value (Exorcist).

I know I'll take a lot of grief for this, lol, but Exorcist is overrated. Yeah, scary for it's time (could say the same for 1922's Nosferatu) but it's #1 on practically every horror movie list. It isn't THAT good. Sorry. :)

Exorcist. Because it's sort of plausible. And they did some original things in it, so it was genuinely unnerving.
The action in Omen wasn't nearly as bloodcurdlingly freaky ... although it was creepy it felt kind of manipulative and predictable compared to Exorcist. Rosemary's Baby was more funny than really terrifying, although I mean that in a good way.

I saw the Exorcist in Hollywood when it first came out. It scared the living crap out of me. When I saw the original Omen, it scared the crap out of me too! Rosemary's Baby is a really bizarre movie but it didn't really scare me. I would have to say that the Exorcist scared me the worst.

I've never sat through the entire film of "The Exorcist". The film just freaks me out! However, "The Omen" really isn't that scary. And as for "Rosemary's Baby", I haven't seen that one either, but as I recall, it ranks right up there as fairly scary.

So, to answer this question, "The Exorcist" wins hand down, yes.

The original Exorcist (1973). Did you know that while making the movie, they had some weird stuff going on? The girl who played the little girl (in the original) died, and so did the guy who played the priest! Apparently they also had some sets falling on people and other weird stuff.

The true story began in January 1949 and involved a 13-year-old boy named Robbie who lived with his parents and grandmother in Mt. Rainier, Maryland. Robbie was very close to his aunt who visited the family frequently from St. Louis, Missouri. She was a medium and attempted to communicate with the spirit world. Not only did she spark Robbie’s interest in this practise, she also taught him how to use the Ouija board.

Strange phenomena began happening on Jan. 10, 1949. The family heard scratching on the walls; however, exterminators found no evidence of pests of any kind. Objects moved by themselves: a table would turn over, a chair would move across the room, a vase would fly through the air, and a picture of Christ would shake. At night, Robbie felt scratching in his bed, and he suffered nightmares frequently.
