Under the U.S. Constitution, people have an implied fundamental right to refuse medical treatment, yet there is no right to doctor-assisted suicide!

Implied, for those who don't know, is not expressed in the Constitution, but rather a U.S. Supreme court-made fundamental right derived/interpreted from one of the enumrated rights in the Constitution!

Yes.
To start with there is already an option available to people to state that they do not want to be resuscitated should something happen to them and they need that.

I know that personally if I ever got to the stage in life where I was totally dependent on other people for everything, like having to shower me & change me, where I was at the stage of "existence" and that I was no longer living I would rather have that option of doctor assisted suicide cause at least it allows one an option of going with dignity instead of being a burden on their family & the health care system.

If you look at the way we treat animals we often seem to treat them in a more humane way than how we treat people. If an animal is in pain or in a state of health from which they will not recover and things will only get worse for them we do the humane thing for them and put them down. You just have to look at the news from earlier this week when Barbaro was put down. That would have been an extremely difficult choice and its sadden a lot of people but it was done cause it was the best thing for Barbaro. Yet when a person is in a terminal ill position, where they are in constant pain and there is no recovery we tell them they have to keep suffering - thats not a humane way to treat our own kind.

i think of abortion's greater decrease and dry to be uncomplicated, the two your for it or against it there is not any longer possibly any in between. right here there's a lot of in between like what does the family contributors say, and how undesirable is the situation quite, with present day drugs maximum cancers is very almost never terminal, human beings can stay a protracted long term with appropriate scientific care and that's time that they are able to get exhilaration from with their families and acquaintances. they might no longer have the wonderful attitude to make this sort of decision and in the event that they have somebody assisting kill them then that would not help in any respect in making the wonderful decision for them. So i could say if the standard practitioner legitimately says ok you have one month to stay, there is not any way out you're a hundred% no longer getting greater valuable, and you are going to be in soreness and discomfort for that month, i could say that's okay to assert their goodbyes and have the standard practitioner help.

Suicide is against the law; therefore, assisted suicide would be the same thing as premediated murder in my book. However, I am not against it. Once you get to the point that you have a terminal illness and are in the end stages of the disease, I believe you should have the right to decide if you want to do this or not since your quality of life is over.

I believe that there are some illnesses that r worse than death, for someone to remain in perpetual pain and suffering when we all know that he can not be cured i would suggest doctor assisted suicide. Its the most Humane way out.

yes I do for a number of reasons ...If the person has a Disease that they are in Pain from and going to die of it because there is No Cure for it like pancreatic Cancer (my mom died from) it was already in stage 4 nothing they could have done for her she died 3 months after she was diagnosed with it.. Or in Situations when Some one does not have adequate health Care coverage for medicines etc because stupid Government funding a war and there is no hope for a reversible miracle I do support it it is THEIR LIVE... THEIR CHOICE....Besides whats the difference when some one is in a coma and on life support and family pulls the tubes or shuts off machines Remember Terri Schiavo ordeal ??

I believe that people should have the option available in terminal cases where they are in a lot of pain and death is inevitable in the near future. I don't know how people can condone suffering.

It's called euthanasia.

I don't really like the idea of someone going to the doctor to die. Doctors should save lives.

Yes, I do.

I believe in freedom of choice, and being in control of your body. Only you know when you're ready to die, and I think if you make that choice, it should be supported.
