(moving out and complaining not an option) Are there any home remedies I can try to get rid of these roaches? I spray once a week. They're not huge and I just cleaned my apt top to bottom and discovered that they're not living in my apt somewhere they must be in the walls. I think it might be the ceiling b/c I ONLY see them on the walls & ceilings. They are always running too (I assume b/c of the spray) so it's like they just move through my apt. I've heard of several things I can do to the floor/cabinets but what could I do for the walls & ceilings besides spray?

I've lived in the same apt for 6 months and never seen even one on the floor- even in the bathroom. They're on the cabinets sometimes but NEVER lower than that. My g-ma cleans houses for a living and says that she's never seen anything like it w/ them not being on the floor.

Roached are easily disposed of nowadays. Didn't use to be the case. Get some control roach baits. Put them in each and every room. And then you can place boric acid, cautiously and sparingly if you have frequent pets or children (visitors, your own) along the baseline of your kitchen and bathroom floors. But, you really need not do any of that. They have electronic pest control devices that you can plug into your wall sockets that deter insects of any kind. You can't sense them, but they sure can. It won't rid you of a spider here and there, but for the most part your home will be bug free. These devices don't discriminate. I recommend one for each room. A set of 4 is about 20 bucks at WalMart.

Amanda;

Give this "natural" roach eliminator a try. Mix 8 oz. Boric Acid, 1/2 C Flour, 1/8 C Sugar, and 1/4 C Cooking Oil (or more) into a soft dough. Roll the dough into marble sized pellets. Put one or two pellets in unsealed sandwich bags and put the bags in the back of your cabinets, under the sink, under the Oven/Range, and any other "dark" area where you have seen the roaches. Replace them when they become hard. They will both attract and kill the roaches, but are safe for children and pets.

It really depends on the type roaches you have. The boric acid is probably the best thing, but if it is the big roaches that can fly, you need to get an exterminator in for an initial spraying and have them come every three month and spray again.

ortho boric acid is the only thing i know of that will kill them, if they are on your ceilings they are going to be on the floor too, you can put jar lids full of boric acid in the backs of cabinets and on top of the fridge you can sprinkle a little in the light fixture covers.as well as under sink, fridge and stove. it takes about two weeks but they walk through the stuff and take it back to the nest, then it kills the ones in the nest, its nothing they can become immune to like sprays, boric acid gets into their lungs through their side gills and drys their bodies out from the inside out.

Where do you live? Here is Southeast Asia, a popular plant used to flavour food, the Pandanus (Pandanus amaryllifolius Roxb.) is known to keep roaches away. To humans it is a mild (slightly grassy) fragrance. We take about two or three leaves and put them into our cupboards and kitchen drawers etc. Every few weeks, we change them. Roaches don't like them.
