Memory is one of several brain functions - and if the brain is overwhelmed or overstimulated, it tends to shut down as a protective device. It is a demonstrated fact that brain wave patterns slow down when a person is watching television. Today many young people are constantly stimulated - iPods, computers, texting, television - there is no time except for sleep when the brain has rest or periods of silence or lessened activity. It may well be that you are over stimulated, and your brain is shutting down as a defense mechanism. Try turning off the iPod, limit the amount of time you text and use the compter, schedule times of silent activity during your day and see if that helps. But give it time - don't expect an instant change,.

well have you suffered any recent head trauma? I'd just go see my doc and get it checked. I have the same problem and so does my sister so it might not be anything major but you might still want to see a doc and see if they are any kind of puzzles, or activities that you can do to help improve your memory.

use associations,or acrynoms to remember important things.
Start writing things down. Everyone forgets certain things like when they get distracted when going to the store and buying everything in the store but the one thing that you originally went in there for.
How about trying to remember everyone's name at your high school reunion, now that would be a good trick.

Wow, King Kong, there is no way she could have come to that conclusion without you.
You cannot loose your memory- it was never tight. You can lose it however.
There is no such thing as short term memory disorder, don't make something up for your little benefit, that disrespects the field of psychology.

How old are you? Have you done any kind of serious drugs? You should go see your doctor because short term memory loss can mean so many serious things, or it could just be because of a lack of sleep. Go see your doctor.
May God be with you.
Have a nice night!

this is happening to me too, I was also wondering why. Maybe I'm just not as excited about life anymore or have a hard time hoping for a better future anymore, so maybe I'm just slacking and not paying enough attention to my life and surroundings because things look hopeless.

Have a medical checkup, do a course in memory improvement, and avoid aluminium cooking utensils and containers, and any antacids and deodorants containing it

Cut out all fake, artificial sweeteners (splenda, sweet n low, all of them). Read the labels of everything because they are putting that stuff in lots of things now (yogurt, cereal) not just diet soda. This happened to me - that stuff is toxic. Research it.
