i am looking to reinstall windows xp completly and some help in knowing how to format the hard drive and remove all the partitions. I already have the 6 disks required as well as the CD

boot with the xp cd in the drive, be sure bios is set to run from cd-rom before hard drives.

Then follow the fun menu options...
Other option is if you've got an install disk for the hard drive itself, I know Maxtor likes to do stuff like that...

Go to Control Panel>Administritive tools>Computer Management>Disk Management. Right-click on any partition and left-click on 'delete this partition/logical drive'. When you have deleted them all get a Windows 98 Start up floppy disk and type: format c:\. Do this because if you don't the new installation will leave your old stuff untouched and you will have problems.

u can remove them in the process of installation of windows when the setup run then it will ask u in which partion u wana install if u c at the bottom of the page letter is assigned to Delet partition press that and do as it says when u remove all partition completly press C to create partition

Just insert the Windows CD and it will format your hdd and then it will ask you about the size of the partitions to be created.

Just pop in the windows XP cd in the drive, restart the computer, and then everything will happen automatically and it will guide you through the proccess(it's pretty easy), when you have to choose between NTFS and FAT32 format choose NTFS (not the Quick one),

start the procedure with disks it will tell you what is there and what you need. follow directions.
