People always are concerned with the importance of understanding womens' emotional, psychological and intellectual needs and how to meet them. While I agree this is very important, why is it that there seems to be no concern with the way men feel and think? Is it simply this universally accepted notion that men are merely simple creatures that don't really need such understanding, compared to more sophisticated and complicated women? Men needing to understand their wives is always stressed, yet, it seems wives needing to understand their husbands isn't. Contrary to popular belief, masculine psychology is not only in need of studying, but it is both important to the health and happiness of both men and women- both, after all, are first and foremost human beings. Human beings that are supposed to work together. Why do you feel masculine psychology is seen as as both unimportant and unnecessary (or even non existant) in society, and what can we do to change this? Also, what are YOUR views

Waltin- I know that in psychology there is plenty on men. I'm reading about Jungian right now. I didn't ask about the psychological field though. I asked about society. Read carefully before you insert your dim-witted quips.

It is the societal influence on men that we are taught to be strong, emotionless, and not need support. We are taught that it is shameful to be vulnerable. As a result we are reluctant to express our feelings. As we suppress our feeling we act as though nothing bothers us. This is the image of ourselves we project to others, "nothings wrong". When we act as if nothing is wrong then others assume that there is nothing wrong. While deep inside we struggle to understand what, and why we feel the way we do. This has plunged many men into crippling depression. It is a cause of lashing out, violence, domestic abuse, addictions, and divorce.
There is much more to be said on the subject.
For a better understanding of the origin of the circumstances, and for suggestions on what is being done about it see the book;
"I Don't Want To Talk About It: by Terrence Real
The book is about ten years However, It's ground-breaking, and offers new insights, and finally gets us talking about something that men (and women) need to talk about.

Jeesh. If you were in the field of psychology you'd know that what you said isn't true. I'm not in the field, but I have a friend who is. And there are volumes on the psychology of men. I just think that because for so long we women were looked upon as objects that the media pays a little bit more attention to it

I hear ya, sister!
Just kidding, and I completely agree. It's ridiculous. Also, why can't whites celebrate their heritage? Why isn't their white history month? My theory is that as men, we are too busy accomplishing to worry about what traits we were born with. With minorities and women, they are so frustrated, that they blame their life on the hand they were dealt- not all blacks, minorities, just the wimps.
Look, you are on to something, you are ahead of the curve. Start your own movement, before I do haha!
Great question.

You got everything totally wrong. Can you show me any women who is not concerned about her husband ? In fact they are the home makers and always think about children, husband , house keeping etc etc. Whereas in the case of husbands all they have to do is to study their wife's mind and behave accordingly so that she does all the household chores without grumbling.

Cause women have more issues than men, when we have a problem with someone we just kill them. No counseling necessary.

Women want a guy who is in touch with feelings, her feelings, who cares about his feelings as long as she gets what she wants (I think that's women's mentality).
