Unlike the Morgans, they are a work of art and they are a short set. Easy to collect and complete the whole series. None are expensive in collector grade and few are expensive in BU.

They are huge, silver, affordable, heavy and gorgeous. Why has this coin always been ignored?

I found an article on why the Peace Dollar was not well-received:

They lack the history of the Morgan dollars. They have no mystique like the Carson City dollars. The 1928 is kind of pricey, for even in grade good, dealer bid is $340.00. With a mintage of only 360,649 I would have expected it to be worth more. The eagle just sitting on the reverse, looking left at the sun rays is not very majestic. The hair on miss liberty leaves a lot to be desired also. The coin just lacks the history and pzazz of the Morgan. I must admit my 1921 high relief is a nice coin with more detail. I would love to have a high relief 1922, but with a mintage of 35,401, it is out of my reach.
