Every one of his speeches have impressed me with how much of a unifier he seems to be--he's both optimistic and intelligent, which is rare in this day, and he's personable and can think on his feet. His "lack of experience" isn't so terrible, considering that our last two presidents had only been governors before assuming the office -- Lincoln had less experience than Obama has. While it's far too early to blindly support any one candidate, I look forward to learning more about him.
Oh--and I think smear campaign attempts like trying to call suspicion on him because of where he went to grammar school is beneath us as a Democracy.

You can look his life's history up on his website:
www.barackobama.com. It also has some videos of his 2004 keynote address at the Democratic Party convention, and his recent announcement to run for president.
I don't know if he has enough experience, but I do think he's very intelligent (has a degree in International Relations), was the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review, is well-traveled, is a good family man, was a state senator from Illinois for 12 years, well-spoken, charismatic, & has a compassion for doing what is right for the country. If he doesn't get the nomination this election, he'll be setting himself up for 2012. I think there is a very strong chance he'll be president some day.

Obama seems very personable, intelligent and articulate. But I have problems with him, and the fact that he has only been in office in two years, and I can't name ONE SINGLE bill he had gotten through the US Senate in those two years. I could not tell you where he stands on any of the major issues I regard as important. So far, he is famous for being black, and wanting to be president. When he starts debating other Democrats like Clinton and Edwards and others he better start offering some plan for this country more than just electing him.

I would agree that he is a very intelligent man and is willing to work with people from both parties. He definitely has the characteristics to be a great leader. My main concern would be that he lacks the knowledge and experience at the level of national politics. If I had to choose between him and Hiliary Clinton, I would choose him in a heartbeat, Clinton is far too polarizing where I see Obama as a uniter. I believe he clearly has Presidential potential, but am not certain if 2008 is his time.
I am not sure what the previous poster is talking about. Obama was born and raised in the United States and therefore is a natural-born citizen. He is as American as anyone else running for office.

Well babe, everything always seems loyal, sincere, and intelligent AT the beginning. After he got elected... he would remove his mask and show the 'real' beast inside him..... as everybody did before.
I think Hillary C would be not that bad even she is not the perfect one but considerably appropriate for that position....
Obama to be honest I have to say that he seems so phony and fake.... His loyalty, sincerity, and intelligence seem so superficial and made up only for making him win the election. Not true his inner loyalty, sincerity, and intelligence shine out from him. But he made it up like a wolf in a sheep clothing. Be aware of this tricky mischievous way to get something. Do not get impressed and amazed by someone's loyalty, sincerity, and intelligence in the beginning especially when he wants to achieve something. Of course he shows all his bests in the beginning to win his ambitions. But after, would he stay and remain the same kind, loyal, sincere and intelligent as he promotes himself by now? I doubt it.... Be very careful.

I think he makes a very good freshman senator. He obviously has a bright political career ahead of him.
I don't think that he has nearly enough experience to be president. Give him another decade and I'd vote for him.

we will see he does seem interesting. But to be presdent you have to be an American first. I am not too big on half americans running for office. If he runs as an American i don't have any issues. Lets judge him by the content of his character and not the color of his skin.
