how can I get rid of paint on carpet?

yesterday I let white latex paint can on table (can was closed)
and my 3 year old push it hard that it spilled paint on my burgundry color carpet, ceiling fan and on white walls.
I did not try to clean them because I think I will make it worse.
Please any tips on how to clean them?

Try Crud Cutter. I know Home Depot carries it in the paint department. I've used it before on carpet to remove latex paint. It works and doesn't have the chemical smell of other solvents like Oops or Goo Gone that also remove latex paint. But, if the spot in your carpet is big it will take months to get it all out.

Goof-off or Oop's is sold @ almost any paint store. Test it applying it to a White cloth then dabbing the carpet. Note: The product you try hopefully will work as the more chemicals you use the less chance the next one will work. I like the snipping idea if that works. Try it first. Oop's or goof off should clean up the fan and if the wall is latex it will take the paint off that was spilled and the wall paint but you can repaint. If the wall paint is Oil Base then it will remove the spilled latex no problem.

You didn't mention how big the spill was.. if it's a huge spill, forget it. There is no way to "clean" it. Using fingernail polish or other chemicals isn't going to be efficient enough, and may even make it worse by melting the fibers of the carpet.

If it's a small spot or spots, let it completely dry and consider snipping the paint off with extremely sharp scissors. Do not cut it deep unless you have to... only cut off where the paint is. Even if you leave a tiny dent in the carpet, this will be far less noticeable then a big honking white paint spot.

<>Yes, you should have gone after it while it was wet. Cleaning it after it dries will be dicey. You could try Fanstastik or 409 and let it soak until the paint softens (might take an hour or more). Then use water with soap followed by lots of clear water rinsing. Or you could call a professional carpet cleaner. Or, if it's a total loss, you could try contacting your insurance company to see if they'll pay a claim on it.

I think your out of luck!

Since latex is water based you could have cleaned it with water and a good shop vaccume.

I would have gotten the garden hose, let the water run on the carpeting and then immediatly sucked it up with the shop vaccume.

Now since you got a dried up mess, I would replace the carpet and take it out of the kids college fund :)
