When i get into JB, first thing i saw is begger...... and dirty building and crack road....

Only city square look like a decent building, the rest sucks...

The food there is cheap and i enjoy the string ray there... but the eating place is dirty and i can see mouse running around...

Well, i hope JB can improve

Good food? I dun think so... Make sure it's clean... coz i see the way they cook are so dirty with rats running around...

I went there for countless times and I did enjoy my trip most of the time, except that getting there can be a chore as one has to take more than an hour to clear the custom.

Johor is honestly a messy and hectic place. Most of the places look disorganised and the fact that the maintanence of the city has been poor. Poor drainage systems, buildings built halfway left untouched, uneven roads etc.

However, the main concern is still the crime rate. Daylight robbery seems to have become something so common there that the police seems to overlook the seriousness.

Dress lightly, stay low profile and be cautious at all time will minimise the risk and assure you with a enjoyable trip.

As for food there, it is no doubt that the hygenic standard is not as good. However, the food are delicious and cheap.

Johor bahru is very much a normal city in its own term. Close to zero touristy-related service being provided. Mostly people from Singapore just go for shopping and eating because it is sometimes cheaper... Lots of snatch-thieves incidents reported. For me, i wouldn't risk going for just the things you can do in any part of the world, i.e.: shopping, eating. The experience is not unique, i don't think.

there has been many reports in singapore media about robbery, high car accidents in Malaysian roads and thefts, and other crime cases but our police are doing something about it by putting up hidden cameras along busy city roads and places that has high crime rate. So whatever the media report be it in other countries travellers must be wary of pickpockets, bogus policeman and be on the look out for bogus taxi drivers as well....so for anyone going to other countries do not trust strangers easily otherwise u will be cheated and duped of your money...Of course johor baru is a nice place to live and many interesting activities u can join in the malls and shopping arcade...
i am a resident of johor

Johor Bahru is a great place to visit..
its at the south part of Malaysia..
with excellent infrastucture, well maintained city & excellent place to shop..
with a exchange rate of 1usd = 3.70rm.. u can shop as much as u like..
..
dont see the comments of crime rates.. if the crime rate is that high i dont think during the weekend, the border between Johor / Singapore will be crowded with singaporean & tourist..

Until now the Johor government had not pointed fingers at anybody over the floods. In fact, it had been banking on visitors from Singapore to help bring its economy back on its feet. -
