For the last year I have been taking Seasonale birth control which reduced my period to 4 times a year. The last cycle for the pills started in mid October and I usually spot between cycles but this last one I didn't.. About 3 weeks ago I felt this hard bump about the size of a softball around my belly button. It doesn't stick out unless I'm laying down. When I felt it I experienced a sharp pain and about 30 minutes later I went to the restroom and I had 3-4 bright red blood drops. For the next week I was spotting light pink to brown, but 2 weeks ago I passed a large clump of blood half the size of my palm and was bleeding for a few days. Since then I have been spotting brown to black. Sometimes I get sharp pains and I've had minimul cramps, and the last couple months I've gotten bigger but really haven't gained much weight. I can't get an appt. with my OBGYN for another month. I don't know if this is normal or what.

This sounds extremely serious. If your regular OB can't "fit" an emergency like this in, you need to head down to your local ER. It could be a lot of different things, including miscarriage or adverse reactions to your birth control. What does it say on your prescription under the part that says seek help immediately if you experience _________ symptoms. This comes from the Seasonale website: Like other birth control pills, SEASONALE® has serious risks, which can be life threatening, including blood clots, stroke, and heart attack and are increased if you smoke cigarettes. In any case, if it concerns you and you can't get to the doctor I'd say to get to the ER. If you passed the large clump 2 weeks ago, that is a REALLY long time to wait. You should have gone then. It may just be your body getting used to the different rate of mensruation, by why risk it?

BTW the source listed below has very detailed prescribing info.

You should call your OBGYN back and explain this. There is a possibility that you could have a tubal pregnancy, or you may have had one. You should probably be seen right away. A tubal pregnancy can be fatal to you. If there is infection from perhaps a miscarriage, that could cause some serious damage too, to say the least. A month is too long to wait, and if your OBGYN wont get you in sooner, find another one who can.

My sis took that type of pill before and had basically the same thing happen. Hers was just a clot...I guess her body was still adjusting to the pill and got all wierd. But youll never know unless you have a medical perfessional give you a once over. I would try to get an earlier appt just for the sake of your mind. If you've been getting your regular annual exam then its pretty unlikely that something dramatic popped up over night, unless you have a history.

OK. Seriously, nobody here can tell you what's going on. With the sharp pains and other symptoms, your OB should be able to work you in. If not, you need a new OB. Go to your family doctor or the ER if you have to, but get to a doctor and get it checked out.

Katy, hello.
Go to your local Emergency room. Take a list of all the pills you are taking and what you have eaten, drank or consumed.

This could be an extremely serious problem.

Let us know how you are!

You ask for an emergency appointment whatever it takes. Ask to be seen in-between patients. Or go to someone else and have the file copied. I wouldn't wait.
