If you like word games, try Weboggle. You'll have to do an web search to find the site. Haven't tried it dial-up, but it might just work. You can compare your score with other players, and you can do 4x4 or 5x5 grids.

I used to play City of Heroes and City of Villains on dial-up, and they weren't too bad. Some areas were more laggy than others, depending on the player population and what was going on, but it was usually pretty stable.
