Mommy's milk, their birthright, is all they need. Formula lowers the iq up to ten points!!!!, increases risk of diabetes, cancer in mom and child, and allergies in child. Also, it interferes with bonding. Nursing produces a nurturance hormone in mommies, oxytocin.

Breastmilk is the best thing you can give your child. It has many benefits...bonding, your antibodies to fight off infections, saves money (formula is very expensive), you lose calories the more you breastfeed, reduces crying and colic, lessens chance of having an overweight baby, and may protect agains SIDS. The baby should be eating every 2 or 3 hours for at least 15-20 m on each breast to make sure its getting the hindmilk which has the most nutrients your baby needs. If you choose to go with formula, the baby should be eating every 3 hours, 2 or 3 oz. Make sure the formula contains Iron. Most commonly used Enfamil Lipil. Hope this helps. Good luck

Either breast milk, or formula. Please let the child set the feeding schedule. At 3 weeks is the first growth spurt, so be prepared that the child will be more hungry-and will need to eat more frequently. On average, about every two hours, My son was every 2 hours, till 3 week growth spurt-then every hour. Some sleep up to 4 hours at night-but generally he was an every two hour baby. Breast milk assimulates quicker than formula, but again, please let the child set the feeding schedule. They know when they are hungry. Whether it be breast milk or formula, at least one would figure every two hours. So please, sleep when the baby sleeps as much as you can. And, it should be breast milk or formula for the first 4-6 months, then introduce baby cereal, etc. Your pediatrician will be able to help you on that as well. Enjoy! Rest. Take care.

Breastmilk: 15 minutes on each breast every 2 hours, sometimes more.

Bottle of formula: I believe its 1oz every 2 hours, but I would just feed them as much as they could take.

With both be sure to burp often, every 7 minutes. More burpy means less spit up!

Breastfeed whenever the baby indicates he or she is hungry- thats all there is to it. And that goes for until you decide to stop breastfeeding.
After baby get s a little bigger he'll devolope more of a schedule, but for now you just need to nurse whenever your baby indicates he's hungry- some examples are sucking on hands and rooting around for a breast.
