She probably enjoys the characters-like Big Bird. She is rather young to be watching too much. As long as she can also take those videos as back ground "noise" while playing other stuff, that is one thing. How is her muscle development? The reason I ask, is several years ago a friend of mine brought a neighbor's baby to church with her, and his mom used the tv as a babysitter. The muscle coordination and development was not good for his age. Plus, when she goes to kindergarten, she will have other children and a live teacher, and won't be allowed to watch tv all day. On this one, I request that you talk with her pediatrician about this tv and video thing. Sesame Street is a good, fun, educational program. You are wise to limit her time with it. TAke care.

I believe you are doing right by only letting her watch 30-minutes of it per day. I also believe you need to inform your nanny that you are paying HER to watch your child, not Sesame Street. If you believe Sesame Street is not the best program for your child to watch, there are the Baby Einstein videos and other educational videos out there. Anyway, good luck!

Any tv is too much. It's not good for their brain and there's lots of research on how sesame street too young slows down reading. And, tv impairs the attention span.
Of course, being separated from mommy for more than 10 hours a day is highly traumatic and damaging to children under 3, creating lasting damage in social, cognitiive, emotional, and physical development. NICHD found this occurs even wtih nannies, cause it's the separation that's the problem. She is supposed to be hanging out with you, being held, going on adventures, learning the names of the wild world around her, reading books, building with blocks. But, she's hanging out watching tv all day.

I read somewhere that does something to the brain to make it work faster...they did not recomend it...try playing with her more.
Do a search on tv and infants.
I think the slower tv shows are better for them. That is why most of the infant DVDs are so slow moving

OH! its really dangerous and it affects your child's eyes definitely. Please its my personal advice that u allow your child to watch t.v. only for a few minutes.
And if she cries when u turn it off, please give her the alternative (I mean any good toys to play or chocolates to eat or take her out) which she likes the most after T. V.
See my children are 6 and 3 years old, and even now i will allow them to see for half an hoyour what u are allowing ur child to watch now.
Please do take care of your child and protect her from affects of eyes. Don't feel bad for the advice.
