I put the plastic sheet over the windows in bedroom, and now I can feel a draft coming from the baseboards. I have a space heater in here, which is my only form of heat. Any cheap idea's what I can do for more heat? Seriosly, I am sitting at my computer desk in my room, 2 feet away from the space heater, and I am FREEZING!

Sounds like my place.

Last resort: dress warmly. I wear a flannel work shirt and flannel pants. A blanket over the legs and feet works great too. The ultimate: ear muffs if necessary. You'll "feel" warm.

If you feel cold air coming in then cover the crack under your doors, including closets and if you have a ceiling fan in the room turn it on but be sure the blades are going in a clockwise motion- as heat rises and this action will re-circulate it back down to the area by you!! You need to maybe put a rolled up towel by the bottom of the widows also-and during the day when the sun is shining be sure that the sun can shine into the room as this will help heat it also!! Hope this helps I hate being cold! If it is a very big room you may need more than one heater!

You can put blue tape between your baseboard and the floor to stop the draft coming from that direction. But it sounds like the problem is worse than that, like maybe your walls and ceiling are not insulated. You can buy 4x8 sheets of polystyrene (Styrofoam) that are ½" thick and tack them to your walls. I know it's kind of ugly, but it will help hold some of the heat in the room. If you can get into your attic, maybe you can put some R13 or R19 fiberglass insulation between the ceiling joists. Make sure the vapor barrier is toward the room. Same thing with your floor if the underside is accessible.

Whenever you have air coming in from the outside a cheap fix is caulk. Caulk any cracks or spaces around your window, doorways and baseboards. The plastic sheet is just diverting the cold air downward. You could also roll up old towels or rags around the windowsill and baseboard.

I feel your pain! I have been there. I bought some kind of weather proofing caulk at Home Depot. It wasn't really caulk more like a rubber cement kind of compund. But it blocked the drafts and it peeled off easily without removing paint. It was clear but didn't look really good. Dress warm in your house!
