Try Gettysburg or the Outlaw Josey Wales. How the West Was Won also has some good Civil War scenes.

Gettysburg is my favorite, although Glory is also good. It does such a good job of showing not just the conflict but also the feelings of both sides as to why they are fighting as well as how they feel about fighting people who are friends and brothers. The relationship between Gen. Armistead and Gen. Hancock is especially touching, especially since it is true. It is made even more so if you actually go to the battlefield and see that Armistead was mortally wounded only a short distance from Hancock on the field (who was also wounded but survived).

ALL WRONG! What the others have been submitting are ill-conceived examples of Hollywood soap-operas. The best film of this nature I've seen that is also historically accurate for real(UNLIKE THAT TRASH "GLORY") is "Shenandoah" from the '60's starring Jimmy Stewart.
