I worked for a dr for 11 months I decided to hand in a resignation because I found a job closer to home, they were constantly working me overtime, and they told me that they do not give raises only bonues when I asked for an annual raise and evaluation. I am a good employee, hadn't missed a day and worked hard, so I felt I deserved a small raise (more principle) than money. I handed in a resignation giving 3 weeks notice which is more than the standard. They placed an ad in the paper for my replacment and the starting pay rate for someone with no experience a dollar more an hour than my current wadge. I am annoyed. Should I be? What would you do?

Am I doing the right thing giving the three weeks even after what happened or am I being a door mat?

You have every right to feel the way you do - just be glad that you won't be working for the cheap, unappreciative doctor much longer!

Good luck in your new job and move forward. There is a lesson in this - but it might take a while to discover what it is. :-)

Being annoyed seems pretty normal. Now move on. But, what did you mean by, you felt deserving of a small raise (more principle) than money? Employment is a business transaction! Employers and workers do business together to make money. What principle are you speaking about?

Yes, this would really annoy me. But, you should just let it go. If I were you, I would just work hard at this new job that you have. I am so sorry that they did that to you, it is not right. You will find though in the future that this was not the right place for you to be at anyways. It will all fall in to place and then you will be so happy that things happened the way that they did. Have a nice night!

Since you're leaving, it's water under the bridge. There's nothing much you can do or for that matter.....that you want to do.
Sure you should be annoyed but it's in the past and you don't need to carry that excess baggage over to the new job.

There's a big difference between intelligence and wisdom and it's evident that that doctor lacks the latter. Be glad to be leaving and good luck with your new employer.

I would be annoyed also, but it is best to leave it alone. It is better not to retaliate, after all future jobs may possibly depend upon the reference they give of you, if they do not have anything from you to complain about then it is better for you. Just move on, and find a better place where they will appreciate you more.

This has happened to me. After 7 years of no raises. I have even had them hire 2 people to replace me (ok they did more things but 2 people).
YOu are right, leave, dont look back and dont let it burn you up.

this happened to me, except I quit, and didn't want to work there anymore.

YOU have another job, closer to home.
Be grateful.

The best revenge is Living well!!!
Be happy and free and know that you will be closer to home and happier.

OR you could reapply for your job!! he-he!
