was driving down the road and shifted into 4th gear and after words wen i step on the gas did not go anywhere it just reved

maybe its your clutch going out or the tranny going out.. the driveshaft would be spinnin when your driving in 4th gear either way if it was not then you would not be moving or the driveshaft would be laying on the ground as you roll over it

Your clutch went out. Some symptoms of a clutch going out was you had some grinding when shifting gears right.
Watch it if you get a small shop to do it. They may change the clutch but not turn the clutch plate. Same thing, as you change the brakes but turn your drums.
