I have a Dodge Caravan, I transmission leaks out the oil so much that I have to keep putting oil into it every 2-3 days. I have heard from numerous people that the 94's always have this problem. I guess what Im getting at is how can you fix this problem without having to spend $2600 if it going to keep happening?

i am a mechanic and work on alot of caravans.... and the transmissions in these cars are the weak point. Lucas Oil makes a sealer that works pretty well for this.
Here is the procedure:

1. Drain all the fluid out and discard
2. clean out the pan with brake kleen because it leaves no resudue on the pan.
3. apply the new gasket with a silicone based sealant on both sides of the gasket
4. Clean the transmission where the pan mates to it...make sure there is no ATF anywhere. use brakeCleen.
5. Attach the pan and gasket DO NOT over tighten the bolts. Use your weaker hand to tighten.
6. Put in a friction modifier like Lube Guard or Lucas Oil. Lucas Oil Transmission sealer as well....
7. Fill with ATF
8. Run the engine and check the fluid..must check the fluid while the engine is RUNNING!
9. Do not put any J-B Weld on the transmission as it will warp the metal on the transmission and will need to be replaced. JB Weld also can not stand up to the heat transfer in the Transmission.

Good Luck!!

I had a 94 voyager with the same problem. The main seal only leaked when driving and for a while after as it was parked, but if it sat for a week the fluid level wouldn't drop much at all. I had a transmission shop quote $250 to replace the seal. Not bad. I never did fix it, just kept buying those bottles of ATF+3 like you do. The girl we sold it to knew about it, but totaled the van in a week so this wasn't much of a factor after that! She's fine, still out there DUIing we figure.

$260 maybe for seals, not $2600- even that is high for a 94 tranny (i have had 2 replaced and have a 94 with a 3.0 engine and 185k miles)

go to a different transmission shop, get a warranty on the new seals.

emlty the transmission completely, push/kneed some JBweld into wherever its leaking. its a metal-like glue that can break apart if you ever have to remove the transmission but will stay there FOREVER otherwise.

You have leaking seal And no mechanic in a can is going to stop it. Try useing LUCUS TRANS SEAL. It will slow it down maybe

Bad reputation - probably DODGE's worst kae ever - I have never seen one fixed, and last - fill the fluid and trade it off -
